Months of Unprofessional Construction Management and Serious Safety Concerns
I live directly next to a Drees Homes construction project in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Since July 2026, dealing with this company's contractors and management has been an absolute nightmare. Contractors have repeatedly trespassed onto my property, walked past clearly posted No Trespassing signs, and blocked my driveway with construction vehicles, sometimes forcing us to find workers just to enter or leave our home. Crews have also damaged my driveway and repeatedly left gravel, roofing debris, and construction waste scattered across my property. Rather than proactively cleaning up, they leave it for me to discover and report. Most concerning, on October 16, what appeared to be a gasoline-powered generator was left running inside the closed construction garage after workers left. I noticed gasoline-like fumes near my home's windows and contacted the Cleveland Heights Fire Department. Firefighters responded, reported elevated carbon monoxide readings, and shut down the generator. **I've contacted Drees management well over 10 times.** Every incident follows the same pattern: an apology, a promise to speak with the contractors, and no lasting improvement. The same problems recur days or sometimes hours later. This is not about ordinary construction inconvenience. This is about months of repeated interference with neighboring property, inadequate contractor oversight, and serious safety concerns. **Apologies without corrective action mean nothing.** I should not have to continually monitor another company's construction site just to keep my driveway accessible, my property clean, and my home safe. Based on my experience, I have no confidence in Drees Homes' ability to manage its construction projects responsibly.
