very comfortable and rewarding
A very comfortable and rewarding experience. we enjoyed having "our hands held" from the moment we got off the plane up until we left Tanzania. Staff we dealt with were friendly and professional. Our guide John was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, where to find them, their behaviors/habits, etc. As an added bonus, he was great company. But more than just escorting us and tracking game John shared much of his personal life giving us more than a glimpse into life of a typical Tanzanian. The lodges or tent camps were all extremely comfortable - nicer than any hotel room I ever stayed in. Roomy, well equipped, fantastic views. staff were very attentive and couldn't do enough to keep you happy (including bringing fresh hot coffee to our tent at 530 am) Food was delicious at every stop. One thing for sure, you won't go hungry on a Safari with Deeper Africa. we were fed as if we were on a cruise - even the picnic breakfasts and lunches were more than ample. only one downside. our first day and last day were spent in Arusha at the Machweo lodge. Pricy but the food was very good, staff were friendly and with good nature tried to teach us Swahili. only problem was dining the last night, we had a flight to catch. staff were aware we absolutely had to leave by 730 pm. unfortunately, our dinner (and an expensive one at that) did not arrive until 725. we were not happy. The other downside at Machweo was the "call to prayer" that began at 5am and every few hours thereafter. Very loud and disturbed much needed sleep. Deeper Africa may want to consider a different location for first and last day - perhaps the Coffee Lodge. Overall a fantastic experience and one I'd gladly do again with Deeper Africa.
