My Debt Stoppers experience at the College Park GA office turned out to be just okay and nothing more. However, I could never get a response to my phone calls or emails. I had even emailed their headquarters and didn't get a response as well. I had to call another person at another Debt Stoppers office in Dunwoody GA to get my questions answered. (Many thanks to the people at the Dunwoody office.) Depending on your particular case, you will receive a bit of correspondence that will need your attention. So, be sure to do your part and take notice to any deadlines and dates. Also, keep a record and copies of EVERYTHING. When/if you have to go to court I would suggest taking all your records along with you especially your federal tax returns for the last few years in case someone did not receive or something get filed with the court as in my case. I had anticipated that and was prepared. I did experience a little frustration along the way due to the fact I could never get anyone to return my phone calls or respond to my emails and I'm sure that they get bombarded with new cases everyday. In the end, my case turned out favorable. If you have no idea of what to expect when it comes to filing bankruptcy and need someone to walk you through, step by step, and need people who are more readily available to answer your questions in a timely manner, I would suggest elsewhere.

Goood and competent law firm. In the beginning, they handle everything seamlessly and line of communication was always open. After about two years, changes in attorney and paralegal seem to be constant and this was always never communicated to the client. Going through the experience was tough enough but not having or knowing who your attorney is when you have a question can be frustrating. Overall the firm handled the technical part of it duties diligently and throughly. But it needs to improve its communication with clients.

Overall this was a pretty good experience. I was given open and honest expectations on what to expect on how the process would go. The reason that I did not give 5 stars is as follows: 1. I made it very clear to the woman who filed my bankruptcy that I only get paid on the 15th and last day of the month. She sheduled my payment to occur every two weeks instead of bi-monthly. This caused my payments to be declined a couple of times. I received a very rude call from a Semrad employee inregads to my declined payment..after trying to explain the situation to him, he offered no help or resolution, eventhough I made all my payments on the 15th and 30th. 2. After I paid off my bankruptcy. Filed in Dec. Paid off in March...debt stoppers continued to draft my account for the monthly payment after I had already paid them in full. Debt Stoppers drafted 2 payments from my account after it had been paid in full. I stumbled across these unauthorized payment after reviewing my bank statement; debt stoppers rectified the issue in a somewhat expedient fashion, but it was still a very bad oversight on their end. These two blemishes left a bad taste in my mouht in regards to Semrad Law Firm but all in all the bankruptcy itself was handled professionally and I was provided with tools to help repair my credit after the bankruptcy. My bankruptcy is currently discharged. Thanks!

During the five year period there was one year where communication failed. I called, I emailed, I visited the office and was finally informed that my attorney had changed and was given different contact information but all too late for my comfort. I had to make decisions that were not as efficient if I had been able to have the consult of my attorney. Other than that period of time the experience was professional and I felt well represented.

Overall I'm satisfied with the job that Debtstoppers did for my case. However, the ability to contact them and receiving callbacks have been challenging, except when you owe money or miss a payment.

I was talked to really bad by the male representatives in the collection department I don't appreciate being disrespected the way I was Due to missed payments

The experience was smooth as far as the process but, the paralegals do not return calls nor does the attorney.

I appreciated being able to get my bankruptcy completed on a payment plan since financially I had been struggling and needed to get out from under debt, however, I felt that there was really no one-on-one support. I was shifted from one person to the other, and when I had questions about the process, it sometimes took days to get a response. Also, on my court date I didn't even know the name of the attorney who would be representing me. I had to ask the lawyers that were sitting in the hearing room, and nothing about the process itself was explained to me, which would have gone a long way to allay my nerves. Having worked in several prestigious firms as a paralegal while living in RI, I am very well aware of what attentive legal representation looks like. Just because I couldn't afford to drop down a $3,000 retainer doesn't mean I deserve to be treated as just another way to get a fee.
