Went to Debt Stoppers because of all the advertising I had seen or heard. They were very professional and responsive in the beginning. All calls or emails were returned in a timely manner. Once my chapter 13 was filed and all of the attorney's fees had been paid (they take their $3500 1st) the experience changed. I got assigned a new attorney without my knowledge, he never returned calls, his paralegal never returned calls and the excuse I was given is that they get too many voice mails to listen to all of them! It took months just to get my address changed. Worst experience ever! They are just in it for the money they don't care about your case or helping you become debt free. DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE A MINORITY!

I know I still owe them money but if they would work with me I lost my good paying job and now make a lot less than I want to pay it off so they can finish my bankruptcy case but they want the whole amount up front which if I had it I would have paid it plus my bills so I wouldn't have needed to file the man was rude and wouldn't work with me at all

Didn't like their services they didn't discharge my bankruptcy because they said I didn't complete my discharge counseling but I did

Lack of communication, no follow up or follow through and the turn over with the staff was too much!!

One case confirmed; lacked proper follow-up when I reached out to law office. Staff lacked same care and eagerness to help throughout the duration of case as presented at beginning of case.

One year into bakruptcy, after having discussed my finances with your lawyers and making a plan and a budget to stay on top of my debt, I was hit with a yearly over $4,000.00. federal tax bill. In some years I also had to pay state taxes of over $200.00. Now at the end of my bankruptcy I owe over $10,000 in federal taxes. I tried to discuss this with a DS lawyer and got nowhere. Everytime I heard your commercial on the radio I wanted to scream! If I could give you no stars or negative stars I would do so!

I appreciate them helping me file my chapter 7 and they were very nice when I went in for my appointment to file but after that it was a different story. I tried calling to speak to my "assigned" attorney and I left several voice-mail messages and no one has yet to call me back. I get it they are busy but they need to still find time to make sure they are servicing their customers with excellent service and not seem as though all they are in it to take your money especially for customers like myself who makes payments on time each month...maybe other locations give better service but not this one.

I decided to take a step to have a fresh start in life and was referred to debt stoppers by a friend. The initial meeting went well. I was never contacted about my first hearing by phone email or postal mail and then i receiced an email stating i missed court and my case would be closed. I immediately called in to ask why was i not notified of court date i got an apology and a reset of that date. I went to court everything went fine and then i got an email stating i had not done exit counseling and that my case would be closed. I attempted several times o speak with someone about adding some missed debts to the bankruptcy nobody could give me any information but my paralegal who i left messages and emailed who never returned my call or messages and then in turn left me a vm a week later stating my case had been closed. Furious i called the office and explained my attempts to speak with someone for some guidance or counseling or any useful info about my case and i was told i had to pay 560 to reopen my case and Nancy would be in touch with me the same day to make arrangements. Noone has contacted me back. Im very dissapointed in this service.
