Not as promised
We had high hopes for working with our financial planning team, but we gravely disappointed. One of the main reasons we signed up with them was their supposed expertise dealing with expats. We were promised they had superior tax advisor partners for our particular situation. After multiple attempts trying to schedule an intake call we were completely ghosted by the tax partner. On the financial planning side we became increasingly frustrated with our teams lack of preparation for meetings. The team never felt prepared and we were constantly told they’d need additional time to get answers. We’d wait weeks and schedule a follow up call only to be told again that they would check on it and get back to us. We worked with our team for almost a year. We talked extensively about our plans to retire and move abroad. The team was on board and said our financials were in order and all their software scenarios showed that our plan was viable. Then to our surprise once we had actually retired, they told my husband to go back to work and for us to sell all our properties! We were completely shocked as this was in direct contradiction to everything we’d discussed in the year leading up to our retirement. I can only assume they wanted to earn as much as possible off us to be the reason they had a change of tune. It was incredibly bizarre. We swiftly fired them after that call.
