You have made a difference in my life...Thank you, Codie!
Thank you, Codie! You have made a difference in my life—not financially, at least not yet—but through hope, encouragement, and motivation. I started listening to your podcast after my husband got out of the hospital. I was searching for something positive and uplifting, and I came across Big Deal. I’m so grateful I did. Our journey began on June 18, 2026, when my husband, Michael, fell and was taken to the ER. We never imagined that doctors would discover an AVM (arteriovenous malformation)—specifically a DAVF (dural arteriovenous fistula). We had no idea something so serious could be present without us knowing. As a wife, I never imagined I would experience something like this personally. What makes it even more surreal is that, through my career, I am often on the other side—helping families who have loved ones with brain injuries and guiding them through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I have spent years supporting families, but I never imagined that one day I would be the wife sitting on the other side, praying, waiting, and trying to understand what comes next. During his hospital stay, Michael faced numerous complications, including a severe blood infection, a seizure during which he coded and severely bit his tongue, a fractured foot and toes, a diagnosis of VSD, a small-intestine ulcer, kidney function that came dangerously close to failure, fatty liver disease, a spot on his pancreas, and psoriatic arthritis. After a four-hour surgery, the surgeon told us that Michael was incredibly fortunate they found it when they did. It was on the verge of rupturing, and the mass effect could have been fatal. Yet through all of this, his resilience has never surprised me. Michael served in the Navy aboard a fast-attack nuclear submarine, and he always says: “You can’t hurt steel.” This journey has shown us an incredible amount of strength, resilience, faith, and love. We are deeply grateful for every prayer, every kind word, and every person who has supported us along the way. Your podcast has been one of those unexpected sources of encouragement for me during a very difficult chapter. It has reminded me to keep moving forward, stay hopeful, and look for the possibilities even when life feels overwhelming. Thank you for what you do and for the hope you put into the world. It has meant more to me than you can imagine. With gratitude, Amy

Amy, thank you for trusting us with something this personal. Knowing that BigDeal and Codie’s words gave you even a little hope and encouragement while you and Michael were navigating such an unimaginable chapter means more than we can say. We’re wishing you both continued strength as you keep moving forward.
