Excellent Tutors and a great learning experience

I graduated from coding dojo towards the end of November 2020 where I learned 3 full stacks (Python, Java, and React). The first couple of weeks were very overwhelming, I had never been thrown so much information all at once like at the dojo. However, once you get the hang of things, it’s not so bad after all. Luckily for the students, the TA’s and instructors are really good at their job. Teaching code to people who may or may not have ever read a single line of code before can be very tough, but the instructors manage to pull it off. The schedule is typically 9am-3pm with a break usually around 12pm-2pm, sometimes earlier! The break in between however is used to not only have lunch but to work on your many assignments you will be given. Although there are a ton of assignments, NONE of them ever feel like busy work. Every assignment is given to you for a reason, and are altered (or sometimes completely removed) through feedback the students give. I’d say my overall experience at the dojo was a 10/10, would recommend to a friend.

Great learning experience, I would recommend them 100%. The teachers TA's and my coharts really made the whole bootcamp really exciting easy to learn

If you want to become a software developer I think the value you get from Coding Dojo is well worth it. You aren’t just paying for videos or content to read, they really provide a robust and challenging experience that I will personally never forget. The friends you make in your cohort are essential for completing the program and becoming successful. The instructors and TAs are aligned with your goals and serve as teachers, mentors, and councilors. You get career service support and are able to become part of a community of developers which helps you transition into the field. These things combined with comprehensive and engaging content all combine to make it possible to learn so much in 14 weeks. The time estimates are all accurate, you will need to spend 50+ hours per week or more to succeed, but if you enjoy coding and learning it doesn’t all feel like work. I was actually sad to finish because I enjoyed the grind but now I have the tools and knowledge to continue what is the beginning of a new journey.

I think that the methodology of Coding Dojo, in the field of education of programming, is the best. The Bootcamp of the Coding Dojo is a big challenge because learning three stacks( Python, Java and MERN) in fourteen weeks, is a little time, but with the methodology and the support of the instructors, It is the perfect place to learn programming of a form intensive and a short time. Since I began with the Bootcamp, the instructor explained in detail the different technologies and the material of the platform were from the basic knowledge to advanced and it was the form most convenient for beginning programmers, like me. The Bootcamp introduces the development web( JavaScript y HTML), Python (Flask), Java(spring) and MERN(MongoDB, Express, React and Nodejs). The best part is that we have a Loreto Larrain the attendant of career service, for me, it is new, but it is necessary to find a job. Thanks to this knowledge, Alfredo and Marcelo my Instructors, I can understand and do code.

Attending Coding Dojo changed my life. I attended the August 2020 cohort, graduated the part-time camp in January 2021, and had a solid, well-paying, related job by April 2021. I was previously a senior technical writer at a great company. I intended to become a developer (and still might at some point!) upon graduation, but where I find I really thrive is as an API documentation engineer. Attending the camp gave me the base for an incredibly valuable foundation. I think what a lot of people don't realize is that there are toonnns of positions that require a solid coding knowledgebase that pay incredibly well, yet are not coined as "software developer." If I had spent more time on the algorithm exercises and really applied myself, I could have absolutely been a developer. I just really enjoy writing and helping people understand the code! As far as being prepared for the job market, top notch. The teachers are passionate and care about your success, the TA's are all very knowledgeable. One thing that sets Coding Dojo apart is that they "teach you to fish." In software development, the most critical part is that you can find your own solutions. They give just the right balance of help vs. struggle. And their career services are just superb. At the time I remember thinking that the curriculum needed some work. But, I was a technical curriculum developer at one point, so I may have been a little too hard on them, lol. Especially now working in tech for about a year, having to look stuff up from external resources is an everyday part of my job. It's well organized and methodical. Also, I'm sure it's improved vastly over the last year and half. All of this said, it's not for everyone. Note that these are just my personal opinions. For one, it's expensive. But if you have an established career, can't spend time attending 2-4 years of more college, and can afford to float yourself for six months, absolutely do it. Another caveat...you 100% cannot do it for just the money. You will find yourself incredibly frustrated. Do you enjoy problem solving? Do you see solutions to the end? Do you like learning? If so, coding (in general) might be right for you. Do your research. Know HTML, CSS and a bit of JavaScript before starting (check out freecodecamp.org. to see if it's right for you. Learning these beforehand is not necessary as they teach you, but it would reaaaallly help). Go into it knowing it'll be one of the most challenging experiences you've faced, especially for those who have family obligations, a mortgage, etc. But, if you do it, the rewards far outweigh the sacrifices. Just be cautioned that if you expect to be spoon-fed, this isn't the program for you. You're here to work and take the steps you need to YOURSELF (because that's exactly what your future employer will expect!). No one is going behind you making sure you did your homework. Do it and be successful (and do the extras because they look awesome on your GitHub profile), or don't do it and struggle to find a job; the choice is yours. If you need help, you need to be proactive in asking for code reviews, etc. They will not find a job FOR you, they will give you all the tools you need to find one yourself. I will forever be a cheerleader evangelist for Coding Dojo because my experience was incredible. You're in good hands with them if you are proactive and in it to win it.

I recently graduated from this bootcamp, as a full time student, and I would highly recommend learning from these guys if you're interested. I went in knowing little to nothing and they were so helpful in teaching me that I'm able to create web pages from scratch now. If you're thinking of a career change, like I did, I suggest you learn from them. But do keep in mind that it won't be easy, you'll still need to put in the work, but you can trust their process. You'll become a full stack developer in no time!
