Total. Waste. Of. Money.
Signed up in early August 2021 for $280 package. Had a phone conversation with the assigned advisor who was quickly pointing out "issues" with my current CV, and spent the whole call and followup messages just pressuring me into getting their $2800 rewriting service. After asking for some before-and-after examples of their work, I wasn't impressed and didn't bite. The advisor kept pressing with all the non-sense, cheap sales pressure tactics, and after just 2 weeks, he was sending messages like "just sending a FINAL FOLLOW-UP on this." (all caps are his 😂) Just for fun, I re-organized a version of my resume following the patterns, format, and wording suggested by BlueStep as "best practices", and submitted it as the base resume to another service that was trying to pitch me into buying rewriting services, and guess what... they said it was junk, and pointed out a number of issues with formatting, wording, etc. My $0.02 is to reach out to several lower-cost rewriting services, use them as pieces of inspiration, do A/B style testing by sending different versions for different roles you apply to, and try to figure out which versions get you more responses. Use your network and ask them for feedback on two different versions of the CV, and keep track of the responses. In the end, it's about trying to put a bit of scientific method to a process that has a lot of randomness.

Thank you for your feedback. we are sorry to hear that you found your engagement with BlueSteps unfavorable. We spoke with the career advisor who worked with you to clarify the situation, as we document all correspondences with our clients. It does seem that a fair amount of time was spent walking you through areas of strengths and gaps on your resume, with careful guidance provided by the advisor. Hopefully, all in all, you derived some benefit from that conversation. As per your request, the advisor did send over several sample documents which have been successful at gaining clients interviews and jobs in the past. In general, there are many different ways to write resumes so it comes down to personal fit and preference. At BlueSteps, we do our very best to match our services closely to clients’ needs. Often clients are extremely busy and overlook correspondences we share with them. To ensure that nothing falls through the cracks, the Advisor pointed out that they often take every measure to attract the attention of the client so that they are notified about follow-ups. For instance, between the time of your initial conversation and final follow-up notification, they did try reaching out to you on at least one other occasion. This final follow-up notice you are referring to was intended to close off further correspondences. As always, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] if you have any further questions or concerns.
