Oct 6th the owner swept hundreds of addresses taking all funds. The site also went offline within 24 hours. This is the 3rd known time that the site owner has swept funds. Their bitcointalk.org profile is here - This user acts as if that is not the case but until October 6th their profile promoted the site heavily. They also were the first to post an address from the site on the bitcointalk.org forums - oddly that address was used only once. Even they know not to use the addresses.

It’s stupid to use a service like this in the first place, but if you’re considering using this website, just don’t. I want you to know that the owners of bitcoinvanitygen.com retain a copy of your private key, therefore they CAN and WILL abscond with any money you send to any address generated by them. This scam began in 2014 when bitcoin was relatively young, however, with the advent of hardware wallets and a community that highly prioritizes security, I don’t think it’s going to work much longer for these criminals. And of course, I hope they slip up and get caught someday so they can think long and hard about all the people they robbed.
