Woodpeckers made 7 holes the size of a grapefruit in the siding of our mountain house. We tried the Owl with a rotating head and shiny pinwheels, all to no avail. We still saw woodpeckers. I was doing research on the internet , when I came across Bird-B-Gone. Great website - very informative. I decided to take a chance on the"Solar Bird Chase Super Sonic". It is absolutely amazing! It is very easy to set up - I have mine on an upper balcony that is not accessible from the ground. The most important thing I found, was, to make sure the volume is loud enough to be heard all around the house. It has been several weeks now and I saw 1 woodpecker headed for the house during one of the times when the unit is quiet. As soon as the unit started up again, the woodpecker abruptly changed direction and was gone. Excellent product! Well worth the money.
