The nation’s leader in Executive Function coaching has been serving clients since 2006. Beyond BookSmart works with students and our WorkSmart Coaching division focuses on serving adults. Executive function coaching teaches students and adults how to organize, plan, prioritize, manage time, maintain focus, self-assess, and study efficiently. Self-management skills are increasingly important in a complex world with many distractions and competing priorities. People who learn these skills are better equipped to navigate the challenges of school and adult life.Many of our clients are bright, capable individuals in late elementary school to adults of all ages who are not achieving their potential as a result of ineffective work habits. Some have diagnoses such as ADHD or other learning differences and see coaching as excellent additional support to school-based interventions. Some of our clients have emotional challenges such as anxiety which impact their ability to work effectively. Other clients we work with have no formal diagnoses yet benefit from learning more effective ways to manage their academic or workplace demands.Our coaches work 1:1 online to help people learn how to manage their time, attention, effort, and emotions, as well as stay organized, plan and prioritize, self-advocate, and become more self-aware. Using our deep understanding of the nature of behavior change, our coaches help clients discover their own motivation to become more effective at school or at work. All of our coaches have master’s level degrees or higher (or equivalent) and have been rigorously vetted and trained, with access to over 400 tools and strategies to customize each client’s experience, according to their needs and preferences.

Our son is new to BBS and his coach has…
Our son is new to BBS and his coach has been supportive, innovative in her approach to trying to help him achieve higher executive function, and communicative both to him and to us as parents. We hope this new level of support will allow our son to figure out how to become self-reliant academically and otherwise.

So far so good
So far so good, but we have just barely begun our coaching journey. Perhaps timing this review request a little further into the process would make more sense.

My coaching coordinator was kind, empathetic, and was a good listener
My coaching coordinator was patient, kind, and responsive to my needs. Laura listened, summarized and made sure I was on board which what she understood my needs were. She had experience in listening and assisting one who was still unclear about the assistance he was seeking. I would recommend her to others.

I wasn’t involved in the intake
I wasn’t involved in the intake, husband Dave was but he was impressed. He’s likes the idea of reports on Michael’s progress. Once we get going and see what it’s like, I’d give it all stars!

My Granddaughter Loved Her Coach
My granddaughter loved her coach and learned so much from her and, in the beginning, we saw really nice improvement. She learned lots of strategies to get started with her homework and school projects; since she was a procrastinator, this was extremely valuable. Along with the other Executive Function strategies, she was doing her homework in a timely fashion and managing her time much better. Then Covid came, school fell apart because vitual learning happened so poorly and she stopped applying what she learned. The coach always stayed connected with us by sending information on what they had worked on and what was expected from my granddaughter. She also texted my granddaughter weekly to check that she was following through. We really couldn't ask for more.

It's Been A Good Piece of A Complicated Story
Our YA child has been working with a wonderful coach for several years. They have established a valuable, trusting relationship, that has really helped our child articulate and face numerous challenges. As a parent, I have appreciated the candor and clarity of the subsequent reports. Often they have provided me with an opportunity to explore certain questions with my child in a way that is direct but not adversarial.
