Beware!! Read before purchasing! Shady Practice
Beware!! Read before purchasing! I thought I found a good deal on a jacket I've been searching for; this being a new site to me, i searched the internet to see if this was a legit site or not. I did not see any reviews, so I took the risk and purchased the jacket. (11/24: purchase posted to my credit card) Let this be your red flag warning. I'm forced to sign up for an account.. sweet. The site shows for this item: "Availability: Usually ships within 24-48 hours"; but being holidays I let the extra days go by. Last night I get a strange email saying 'Status is now Pending'.. Hmm, I check the site and now the same jacket is marked up $70 more than when I purchased it. Now I'm suspicious; Maybe I'm overthinking it. The next day I get an email informing me that the jacket I ordered is backordered and my order is Cancelled. I go back to the site and now the jacket is marked up $120 from my initial purchasing price. I got punked. I call in and am connected to a customer service representative; maybe they can fix this. Just so happens this representative is also the Founder of backcountryfreeskier.com, Perfect!! I'm positive he understands good business and can fix this mishap. He then proceeds to inform me that I purchased an older-model of the exact same jacket and this new one also happens to have the same identical photos and description on their website. Furthermore, the jacket I initially purchased did not indicate the year the jacket was intended for and will have no way of knowing the difference. He continues to give me some runaround answer on how unfortunate this is and is willing to "meet-in-the-middle" on the now posted price. What a deal! It's too bad that this has happened as this site seemed promising and I liked the idea of purchasing from a smaller competitive business. What's really disappointing is that this company is not able to own up to their mistakes and honor the purchasing price, but instead pulled the rug from under me and is trying to squeeze additional money from an already agreed upon price. I really hope this helps others in the future before deciding to purchase here.
