I was hired with BABEL AUDIO stating I would make $40 an hour. It's $17.50 and you are paid per conversation you have. You can only clock in at 15 minute conversations AND YOU ARE BLOCKED from booking more if THEY DETERMINE YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH FEEDBACK OR SOUND, OR WHATEVER. They ask you to select a number of tasks from 1, 5, 10, or 11. Except You can book 5 tasks, go to converse, and are shut out after 15 minutes. I made $24.30CAN my 1st week (that's $17.38 U.S) & second week the exact same amount. l am doing foreign language- Italian. It is hard to get people to book at the same time. A calendar was given for ease of use and to book slots. Nobody does. Yet all are working so they get hired with friends and determine it amongst themselves and you are left high and dry with nothing. You don't get paid if not talking and your earning is contingent on someone else showing up for conversation. Many people are doing this as really pocket money so if you are looking to do this as a full time or official 30 hour week/part time, good luck. There are the same people making insane money, some people in the English category are booking 36 tasks a day. That's a lot of money and yet we can't get past 1 task a day and that's sometimes even $2.50. The first week went by with NO feedback which I had 5 conversations but then I got locked out- after 5 conversations because feedback flagged me- hence I made the same week one and week 2. The system halted me from scheduling more. If you don't schedule times BECAUSE THERE IS NO ONE BOOKING A TIME SLOT, you GET DEMOTED TO AGAIN 1 TASK OF 15 MINUTES A DAY. I was doing this as a job. I am currently living in my car and I needed the "reliability" of remote work and was hoping to make even at least $400 a week! I am making not even $50 a month!! (imagine Indeed.ca won't even post my review because I actually said I am living in my car.) Truth is many people are now living van life and car life and with a job like Babel Audio, you think it would be great because it's hard to find an affordable apartment. But boy was I wrong! I was then sent a job application which told me to apply as a transcriber. For Italian. This would not require two people but just me and headphones. I thought GREAT! I went to apply. I got to my dashboard and THE JOB DIDN'T APPEAR. WHEN I REACHED OUT TO SUPPORT, I WAS TOLD " IT'S BECAUSE YOU DON'T QUALIFY OTHERWISE IT WOULD SHOW UP." So why send it to me? So I'm not qualifying for conversation & I can't qualify for a single person job which is NOT contingent upon someone else showing up. Then another support agent literally told me to "just log on at peak times when everyone else is on and you'll find someone to chat with." Apparently he's unaware only TWO people can be on at once. So if you log on at peak times, there's a chance you can't get on and those people could be there for an hour. So it's unethical- because you have to wait- so you are fighting to get in line. HE ALSO FAILED TO REALIZE that we are all international so someone's peak time could be my 4 a.m. and I am being told this is normal? I feel like they are taking advantage of people. There are over 4000 people in the English sector and many are frustrated, locked out or experiencing the same thing I am, and BabelAudio keeps advertising jobs and openings -kicking people to the back- who really want to learn and succeed. You are invited to attend weekly meetings or question periods, again unpaid & your time, and then you just sit in front of your computer to what-wait? Except it's not that easy because IF YOU ARE GOING TO TALK, YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE SOUNDPROOFED AND IN A COMPLETELY QUIET AREA, SO IMAGINE THIS SCENARIO.. You are sitting in your office or kitchen writing, doing work and you log on and see someone is logging on, you then have to move, you are given time, but you have to go to your "quiet space' ensure you microphone and audio is set up correctly and choose a topic and begin. Except- if there is remotely any white noise, movement or background noise YOU get flagged, your tasks will BE LIMITED again. So you spent your time, getting prepped and ready & booking time out and you could be locked out at one task of 15 minutes a day which equates to $4.38 cents. I think they are unethical as a company. They could stop hiring and focus on helping those already there- to REALLY succeed and perfect. Cons: Very low pay $2.50 to $4.38 day when restricted, Always restricted to one 15-minute task per day, Feedback system can severely limit work opportunities, Poor communication from admin, Slow response times to issues and concerns, Scheduling conversations due to time zones, People not being online simultaneously, Q&A sessions announced last minute, Uncontrollable OUTSIDE noise results in penalties, Impossible performance. Pros: Flexibility. Admin seems nice. Have weekly Q & A periods. Paid WEEKLY!!

they're running scam promotions. they say refer a friend and get $200 when they complete 10 hours of work within the first 14 days but they dont even give my friends enough work to complete the 10 hours before the deadline or the website is glitching out and not having errors. therefore they wont pay you out your $200 for a referal. such a bait and switch scam promotion. there customer service takes hours to respond. horrible platform

Undisclosed requirements, contradictory test results, and a support team that copy-pastes the same wrong answer twice I spent three days and real money trying to qualify for Babel Audio's AI voice training work. The equipment requirements needed to pass their audio and video check are never listed anywhere before you apply, so you only find out what you actually need after you've already started trying to qualify. On their recommendation, I bought a webcam, a USB headset, and an ethernet adapter specifically to meet standards that were never disclosed up front. After doing everything their team instructed, their internal test still failed me on network jitter, while a third-party speed test, the exact one they directed me to run, showed results well within their own stated requirements on the same hardwired connection at the same time. When I asked for an explanation, their support team sent me the same templated response twice, word for word in every technical paragraph, including a factual error where my download and upload numbers were reported backwards. Nobody caught that error before sending it to me a second time. When I pointed out the contradiction directly, I was lectured about my tone instead of given an actual answer. This isn't a strict verification process. It's an internally inconsistent one that keeps shifting the blame onto the applicant's equipment and internet provider no matter what gets fixed. I followed every instruction I was given and still couldn't get a consistent result, and three days in, nobody on their team could explain why their own test disagreed with itself.

For a couple of months I took part in several German conversation projects which were very nice and quite well-paid. The QMs were also supportive. Suddenly I was kicked out of the projects without any given reason. I felt disposed like some piece of garbage. Better stay away from Babel!

They removed me from Community Chat because my complaint had to many responses and made them look bad, never told what I violated to be removed, went from 30 calls a day to 0 and they couldn't give me an explanation why, now there's no money to be made, it seems like they did incentives and bonus to get a large sample size then project throttled everyone. This type of behavior is concerning.

At first, babel seemed like a great and easy going company. They were at first very supportive to new users. I was in the English generalist project. I started last week. They give you four calls to start off with. They say that the first four are just to see the quality of your audio, but they will give you an opportunity to improve. I first used Bluetooth headphones which produced poor quality at first, but I changed it to a wired Logitech headset. Once I did everything begin to improve. I used Krisp for the microphone and Logitech headset for output. The weird thing is before you can enter into a conversation session, they test out your mic, network, audio clarity and background noise. I would pass the checks each time. When the conversation is done, I would normally get flagged for background noise, although the check did not detect any. The only background noise from the graded snippets was me about to form a sentence or If I just got done speaking. I read on a thread that they started using a new UI system and that it incorrectly flags background noise when you are formulating a sentence or agreeing with the person your speaking with. I emailed support multiple times on this issue even with screenshots. They never replied and you know what happened next? I got an email that I was removed from the project. No one cared to troubleshoot the issue or to find out how to correct it. I have seen people mention this same issue on their community chat. All their told is to move their headset away from their lips and be careful when clicking on mute. Babel knows about this incorrect flag but will refuse to do anything about it and the fact that they did not email me back twice regarding this issue to at least look into it is super unprofessional. I basically got removed for no reason. My call quality improved and the only thing it kept saying was that I needed to improve background noise that was not literally there. This is why you cannot fully rely on AI to do everything for you without a physical manual review or human to check into the error. They are aware of this issue of flagging people for something that was incorrect. They just don't want to nor care to do anything about it. But It's ok, the best is yet to come, I don't need to be linked to an unprofessional company such as this. I appreciate the time I had there and the good conversations I had with others. I thought they were a better company than this but I was wrong. There are others out there that will pay even more. Don't stop here for those who was removed from the project despite a buggy known flawed system that was no fault of your own. My last call was good and all green but yet they yanked me off without any explanation. I even provided screenshots but don't be fooled by the fake energy the company brings off not to resolve their system bugs. I won't bash them but they should do better by people. Despite their worship of AI, its the people that make this company. I believe this is purposely set up to get rid of people for no reason so they don't have to pay out so many people. Its cool. Bigger and better doors will be open. I don't want to see their fake generic reply because I got receipts.
