DO NOT RECOMMEND
We hired America's Swimming Pool Co. (ASP of Williamson County, TEXAS) for a major pool renovation beginning around March 1, 2026. Our investment was upwards of $50,000 cash, and the project ultimately required two renovation attempts. Although we were pleased with the second crew's work, the overall experience involved significant disruption, repeated follow-up, and unresolved concerns. We documented issues and requested solutions throughout the project, but communication was difficult and our concerns were not consistently addressed to our satisfaction. Our concerns included an unlevel tanning deck, gray decorative-tile grout instead of the light tan grout we selected, plaster discoloration and finish issues, and acid-wash work performed the same day as the initial plaster application. We also observed muriatic acid applied directly to plaster smudges on the tanning deck, which, in our view, worsened its appearance. We declined a proposed hot-start/acid-start and requested a second renovation using a different crew. During drainage work, we observed what appeared to be 4,000-5,000 gallons of pool water discharged behind the fountain and into our backyard, as well as dirty water backing into the pool through the drain. Based on the timing and our observations, we believe this discharge may have contributed to later drainage concerns. We remain concerned about a leaking fountain, scuffed and/or scratched brick walkways, plaster and grout residue, and debris in the backyard. We were told the backyard would be cleaned and restored to its pre-renovation condition. In our view, that did not occur. ASP sent an administrative assistant and pool technician to clean up, but we found the effort insufficient. After we requested that the remaining issues be addressed, we were told the company would not return. ASP cited our email ending pool services. That email was intended only to end the 10-day startup and weekly maintenance services--not to waive renovation-related cleanup and restoration. We understand renovations can present challenges. However, we expected clear communication, effective oversight, quality workmanship, and complete cleanup. Based on our experience, those expectations were not met. We recommend that prospective renovation customers document everything and obtain written commitments regarding supervision, workmanship, site protection, cleanup, and final restoration.
