I love the publishing of my books, the art work is fantastic, the people are great. With the Covid year here, it took so long to publish and I still haven't received my marketing kit yet. Everyone who sees my books has good comments about them, and the art work especially! Kids love them and that's why I write them.

As a first time author I found many aspects of the publishing process confusing and at times frustrating. I wish Archway could have been more up front about the total cost and time involved. Never the less I will be going with Archway on my next book and now that I know what to expect I feel things will be much easier. I want to thank all the staffs in all the departments for their help and good work.

Very professional and quality design
Every step of the way, my concierge (contact person) described well what task needs to be done, and how long it will take. For instance, she would tell me that the design phase takes 2 to 3 weeks. She described each phase, and why it’s needed. At signing the agreement, I received documents that explained every single step and phases in the publishing process.
There was one miss, though. I was told the line editing would be done in 4 to 5 weeks. It took 5 extra weeks. That caused me a lot of aggravation. Line editing was suggested, that I accepted. This is editing where intensive structural edit focuses on the finer aspects of language – the flow of ideas, transition elements, tone, and style. However, when the work was returned to me, I saw very few such corrections. I paid some $1000 over what was needed. The interior and exterior designs were beautiful and catchy. They gave me three choices for design. After the design, I was given opportunities to make further modifications to the content, as long as they were not too extensive. This is normal in any publishing house.
I was never pressured into any service that I felt I didn't need.
Everyone at Archway publishing was courteous and professional. This is the fourth book I publish, three of them “self-published,” and AP has been my most pleasant and satisfying experience.

Could More Be Done?
I loved working with everyone at Archway. However, I was a little disappointed in the promotional process. I don't really see where it was worth the money I spent on promotions. If I see changes I will be happy to amend my review

First time writer
Overall, I have had a lovely experience with them publishing my first novel DANNY AND MJ. The book cover was beautiful, and the binding in amazing quality. As for the staff, their energy matched mine. Every question was answered promptly by the method I asked, either phone or email. It’s like they held my hand through each process. As a first time author, those gestures were appreciated.
I do regret the extras being purchased, marketing gimmicks, etc, as it did nothing to boost my book or its sales. A simple lesson learned.
I am now ready to publish my second novel and will most likely contact them again.

I was disappointed in not knowing that…no help with graphics
I was disappointed in not knowing that I would get no help with graphics. It’s surely in the contract somewhere, but when I wanted to include a map with something looking other than hand drawn and labeled, nope, sorry. If I had understood that early on I could have a graphic artist to help. Unfortunately I didn’t inquire until I was ready to publish, so....

Guided self-publishing was the way to…
Guided self-publishing was the way to go for me. Archway Publishing offered me constructive criticism which allowed me to edit my own book and, they offered great marketing ideas. This was an affordable way for me to publish on a tight budget.

Pleased with the services of Archway
The staff are very helpful and personable. I have been pleased with every step of the process. They offered many more services than I used because of my personal goals and circumstances, but it was helpful to know the options available.
I have no complaints in this experience.
