Archway PublishingReviews of archwaypublishing.com

I too thought that this sub of Simons and Schuester, with all their experience and expertise, could help me kick off my first book with all the help I needed. They have spent the last 7 months delaying me and failing to provide the support I needed. I had spent over $60,000 prepaying for printing and marketing, and they were not able to give me a work product I would want to put my name on. They have agreed to repay me the large majority of what I spent on prepaid services. Now I will start over.

They are a legitimate company and they can get your book published. However, the procedure is filled with omissions and hidden tricks. In the beginning they will tell you one thing and later on turn and say the complete opposite. They always try to sell you additional services and once they get their money give you an excuse why they cant fulfil the services completely. It is basically a very deceptive way of doing business. I, personally, will never work with them again. They are skating on thin ice when in comes to being scammers. Also, their phone numbers all have the caller id as potential scam, so take that with a grain of salt. I wouldn't trust most of these 5 star reviews on this page either. That's one of their strategies.

I went with Archway just because of their sales pitch, which they said, they are with Simon and Schuster. So with that such a big name, I am devastated with the pricing of the book. Till date, No sales, It is just because of pricing. I cannot event sell one book to my own brother in law an sister in law here in canada. It is priced so high that it was waste of my time and also broken by kids heart. They contributed a lot to see this book materialized. I requested for a price change. Till now nothing. On top of that, simple request like input a canadian dollar figure on the book for pricing. That also, NO was the answer. Then why you represent simon and Schuster. Here in walmart, I see kids book two for 10 dollars from the same company. Why can't we compete. I agree it is print on demand. Still you have connection with printers, that they should give you good pricing. If I go alone and ask a printer, they can print my book less than 5 dollars whether it is one book or a batch, as long as I stick with them. This is not doing any good to authors. I will not go back until this review changes some thing for me.

I already submitted a review on the Archway web site about a week ago and have still not heard a word back although I asked that someone call me regarding a particular issue.Since then I have been trying to reach Jenna Lambert (Customer Support?) and have gotten neither replies to emails or telephone calls. Her voice mail messages alternate between “ on the phone right now” or “Jenna Lambert is at home “.Not exactly quick on the uptake. Also sent a note to Angel Hernandez (a week ago ) after a lengthy telephone conversation in which she could provide no clear answers to questions and could only recite a corporate script and seemed quite proud of that and thought that was sufficient.Never got a response from her asking for what I would consider some basic information.Bob De Groff and Joe Scaggs have been the only 2 ( outstanding people ) people I have dealt with since 10/14 and at that they were stepping in to correct others who had dropped the ball.

The publishing portion went very well publishing my children’s book, but the printing company has put out poor quality books with defects ranging from large bubbles on the page behind the front cover, bubbles on the page behind the back cover, pages not cut apart, and improperly glued spine making the spine look like it has been broken. At least 60% of my shipment was defective. I’m having a book signing event in one day and probably won’t have enough books available for sale. Also, the printing company uses thin paper that is not very practical for a child’s handling. I would recommend Archway change their printing company if they want to have a good reputation to get new author’s business. The author should not have to be the quality control inspector, but be able to open a box with confidence that the books are a good quality.
