Waste of money
I bought a SIM card through Amigo US for Peru and the provider that Amigo partnered up with there was useless. I had full bars with a provider called "movistar" and could not get any internet access on my iphone unless I was at my hotel and hooked up to their wireless network. So essentially the SIM card was of no use to me, which was very unfortunate since I was there for part work. My husband had bought a local SIM card in Peru and he had no problems at all as he was with a larger carrier in Peru. So essentially I paid for unlimited data but had not internet connection through the provider that was partnered with Amigo. I would not use Amigo again as I would not take the chance of this happening again (i.e. perhaps Amigo is only partnering with subpar providers in the local jurisdictions.)

I apologize for the difficulty that you had on your trip. The problem that you experienced, however, is not related to Amigo's service. Your phone apparently attempted to connect to "movistar" but we actually do not partner with that company because we have found them to be unreliable. Amigo only partners with the top carriers in each location which is why we are not connected with that carrier. I would like to ask you to please give us another chance, and if a situation like this should ever arise again, please call our office, at no cost to you and we will help you connect to one of the carriers with whom we do partner in that country.
