I purchased a brand new Speed Queen TC5 washing machine, which was delivered on 10/21/2026. At the time of installation, the delivery techs demonstrated that the machine was able to run one spin cycle. Afterward, I was able to run one spin cycle on a wet load of laundry left over from the failure of our previous machine. I noted that it required multiple presses of the start button before the machine entered the spin mode. The machine completed the spin.
Then I attempted to run a complete wash cycle, and was unable to get the machine to do anything except flash lights and beep. I unplugged the machine for 15 minutes to do a hard reset, and was able to get the machine to fill with water, at which point it stopped and after waiting for one hour for it to proceed I did a hard reset again. I discovered that the only thing it was possible to do was a simple spin cycle, after pushing the start button multiple times.
After trying for several hours to get the machine to do a full run, I determined that the ONLY thing it could do properly was fill and spin, with a 15 minute hard reset between the two actions.
I contacted Speed Queen (Alliance Laundry) and was told it would take 4 business days for them to assign a technician, which I requested. I also contacted Best Buy and they are going to send a "Geek Squad Agent" to determine whether the machine was installed correctly later today...
Looks like I got a lemon.

Speed Queen Washer Terrible Warranty Support
Our four-year old Speed Queen washer quit working on September 1, 2026. I went to the Speed Queen web site on September 2, 2026 and I first tried to use the “service locator” but the system wanted me to “disable functional cookies”. I tried my best to do what was asked but I finally gave up because I was unable to use the locator tool. Instead, I submitted a “Request for Repair” and provided my original purchase receipt. A window popped up and said: “I would be contacted by a service company within four business days”. Accounting for the Labor Day holiday I expected to be contacted no later than close of business on September 9, 2026.
My wife and I used the local laundry mat until Tuesday September 8, 2026 but I had enough of the laundry mat so I troubleshot the washer myself and found the washer pump was bad. I went online and ordered the part because I was tired of waiting to be contacted to get it repaired.
Finally, I was contacted by an appliance repair company on Thursday September 10, 2026. The service company owner and I discussed everything and he agreed the washer pump was the problem. He could not understand why it took so long for him to receive the service ticket from Speed Queen and even with that he noticed Speed Queen scheduled the service appointment for Monday September 14, 2026. That would have been almost two weeks to the day to get my washer repaired. This is unacceptable. He said he could have got to me the day after my washer broke (September 2, 2026) had Speed Queen sent the service ticket quicker and he had five of the washer pumps readily available on his truck.
I requested that Speed Queen do the right thing and reimburse me for what I paid for the OEM pump that I had to replace. The pump I installed was an OEM pump made by Hanning and was the exact same pump that originally came on the washer when it was manufactured. I attached my invoice for what I paid for the pump. I used to own a service company and there is no doubt in my mind that sending me a check for the cost of this pump is far less than what it would have cost to have a service company do the work. This is the official response I received from Speed Queen: “For warranty coverage, repairs must be completed through an authorized Speed Queen technician. The authorized servicer will diagnose the issue and order any necessary parts through their regional Speed Queen distributor. This is how parts are processed and covered under the manufacturer’s warranty”. I completely understand company policy but this is just poor customer service. My complaint isn’t really about the cost of the pump; it is about a service/warranty process at Speed Queen. Had my initial service request been sent to the appliance repair company on September 2, 2026 my washer would have been back up and running again the next day.
Unfortunately, I do not recommend Speed Queen products anymore. They are way overpriced and although they come with an industry leading warranty what good is it if you are forced to wait for weeks on end to get something repaired.
