Everything was perfect save for two things 1. It took me over 6 (SIX!) months to get my transcript sent to my school and over 10 emails to Cherita 2. My host mom gossiped about me to the other student I stayed with.

There aren’t a lot of options for STEM majors so you end up having to choose ‘just because’ which makes study abroad seem like a chore.

I enjoyed my time with AIFS study abroad overall. However, there were some issues with the transcripts after my return. Despite several emails and phone calls, it remained difficult to determine the progress of said transcripts being mailed to my home university. In addition, the Art History professor I had while in Paris was extremely challenging to communicate with. I did enjoy the content of this class, but the structure and the professors choices throughout the semester were simply unacceptable. I expected more.

I had a great experience overall. However, no one informed me that I would not be at an actual college, as a result I went to class in an office building each day. It was difficult to immerse myself in Austrian culture and meet Austrian students when I was typically surrounded only by others in the program. Still had a great time and am eternally grateful for the experience!

AIFS did the best job they could do for me. While I do wish they would have had more cultural integration and less AIFS only activities- I understand that the limitation was largely due to the location and not the program. Still, I think the whole experience was far too catered towards American students, we had nothing in the way of an authentic experience.

My time abroad was fun. I feel that the program could have done a better job in terms up setting up outside activities, connecting us with locals, and support.

The basics of a summer program were there, However the communication between the two schools and the AIF recruiting staff could use some work.

Everything was a bit of a mess, it was not properly planned. The dinner was consistently postponed we were not fed like we were supposed to be on a field trip. I met some of my best friends on this trip and the experience was worth it but the organization was poor. The deadlines were also extremely outrageous. I had to take out an unnecessary loan because scholarships were not produced yet.
