I signed up to learn more about 7 cups, typed in my bank details automatically and had not realised this meant an automatic payment of 150. Tried to get in contact for a refund but have had no response for over a month now. The phone number doesnt work and all emails get ignored. All services should offer a cooling of period. This company is in it purely for profit. AVOID.

This is a complete scam. One of the "Listeners" told me he (or she) is only twelve years old. How can you condone that?

A horrible site that merely cares about money. There is no real training for these so called listeners who at most given times don't even listen. In addition to the "therapists" they have on the site that you have to pay for and all of them, every single therapist on that site has a review of 5 stars. Nobody has below 5 full stars at all. That techincally is not possible at all. 7cups has no consideration for the people in actual need of help, otherwise they would give some thoughts into improving the site. Improv security and privacy which would limit the amount of perverts on there that can enter the teen section whenever on 7cups. 7cups is letting perverts go into the teen section freely. That needs to be adressed. This site is a big scam

Unfortunately another website teeming with trolls who leverage the limited power of the Listener-role to harass already vulnerable people. Great idea as a website and I wish it would work as intended, but more moderation and vetting is necessary. Not all of my experiences were negative, but enough of them were for this service to be considered unsafe. For this reason I cannot recommend this website for its intended population and on the contrary I would recommend to stay away from it.

So this happened about two years ago and I finally feel comfortable to say what happened to me. And because now I realise it was wrong. I basically went through a catastrophically changing life event and I was dealing with greif and I was in pain emotionally. Feeling like I had nowhere else to turn I came to this website. I wish I never did. I explained my situation to someone on the other end who was so not qualified to handle this. They basically told me to get over it and stop being pathetic because I had caused it myself. This made me so angry and hurt my heart even more that I couldn't get out of bed for days. I was not depressed nor do I have any other mental health issues. But I was in emotional distress due to something in my life. If I had been any other person who was more vulnerable, I firmly belive someone could've taken their own life at the words they said to me. Thank goodness it was me and not someone else who was more unstable. Please please stay away because they're not qualified to deal with the pressure this site entails. Please see a real therapist, god knows how many people have suffered or not made it because of poorly vetted people on the other side.

I was just having a bad day, literally just needed someone to talk to. But it seems listeners are only there to promote their therapy feature, not to actively listen. I said I had a nightmare with my father... "hAvE yOu CoNsIdErEd ThErApY?" As soon as I said I cannot afford 150 per month, they went silent. Gosh, even a wall listens better and has more emotions than their listeners!

used to use 7 cups for free and never had a problem with it but never really helped. had a bad night one day and signed up, as i remember no warnings that it was £150, even after that i sent about 2 messages to the therapist. the next morning when i realised how much it was, and asked for a refund and was told it would take 3-5 days to get back to me. never got back to me, i repeatedly sent attempts to get a refund or even a partial refund, only ever heard back requesting i filling out a form, i did and then never heard back, not even to decline the refund, and being 17 at the time, £150 was and is a lot of money to me. i understand that it was my fault for not checking the price, but i used the service for 1 night with 2/3 messages, and couldn’t even get in touch with someone who works there.

Update: 7 Cups suspended my Listener account within 12 hours of posting this review. If you needed any more evidence of them silencing those who stand up for the victims of sexual harassment on the site, here it is. 7 Cups claims they took this action after I "behaved in unconstructive ways" (Email from 7 Cups Account Review), behavior which seems to include me leaving this review about them after they took down one of my (unrelated) forum posts and imposed sanctions against my account because it allegedly violated the Community Guidelines. However, I feel this was really just an attempt to silence me because they are afraid of the truth getting out: that would mean they would have to try to confront the sexual harassment issue. After all, I have been receiving passive-aggressive messages from 7 Cups Admins every few days after my post about sexual harassment was taken down on 1/5/2021. The summary of my experience is that it has great potential but is mismanaged. First, volunteer Listeners are mistreated. As a Listener, you will be subjected to cliques of Listeners who will patronize you in every word they write. You will receive a similar experience when talking to most Admins. At least there, you can feel like it is slightly more warranted? Each role you take on requires you to complete monthly tasks. If you do not, they will no longer allow you to help the site in this way. This overloads dedicated volunteers and comes across as ungrateful for all the work they do. There are also cyber predators on this website, as with all websites, of course. I personally have been subjected to a Member insisting that I go into detail about my masturbation habits after I had said 'No' multiple times. Another all but begged me to tell her that I am sexually attracted to my mother and to make fake fantasies about that with her (Note: I am not!). Based on what I have heard, I was lucky. In the rooms, I saw countless Members complaining about Listeners insisting for them to send nudes and chat off-site. I met one Listener who told me that a Member hacked into her computer and located her. He proceeded to message her her own address, threatening her life if she did not send nudes. These are things that could happen anywhere on the Internet. We all know it is a dangerous place. The issue is that the Admins refuse to acknowledge this. When I made a PG post in the forums (which could only be seen by adults) about this very issue and how we should prevent it, it was removed 8 hours later. When I asked about it, I was told by an Admin that my post was not constructive and could potentially scare Users away. In other words, the Admins of 7 Cups would rather keep everyone calm and ignorant than arm the community against predators. 7 Cups leadership views their adult Members as even less able to handle upsetting yet important concepts than children. After all, I doubt the Admins and other higher-ups behind removing my post would even hesitate to explain to a small child why not to take candy from strangers. In addition, they punish Listeners for providing feedback on the site on the basis that it is "Unconstructive." If you make a feedback post, you will likely receive behavioral points against your account. They do not believe in free speech here, even to improve the site. This is funny, as they market themselves as somewhere people can freely vent and get things off their chest.
