The app has too many mods, not helping anyone. I've seen both racist and sexist tirades go on by spammers for hours, and just now saw a genuinely distressed person, whose turn it was to share, kicked very uncaringly from the chat because they said "they wish they could commit suicide because of what's happening but they wouldn't do it". It's basically the wild west depressed people, with sheriffs who don't police anyone but the people they're there to help.

I used this app a while back. The listeners were basically responding as bots. They would even add a "Wow" or "Oh!" at the most inapropiate moment which conviced me that they really were not reading me or even cared about me a little bit. (they answered very fast back then) The difference back then between listeners and a random troll from the internet was none. On top of that, I had health issues. Back then doctors in my country did not believe I had physical problems (during many years they argued I just was faking). Nowadays however I had already multiple surgeries. (I threatened to sue them so they changed their minds slightly) The listeners at 7 cups of tea tried to make me believe that "I was fine, you just imagine things" just like the doctors in my country back then. Overall I would rate this service a 1 star. There are many reasons however besides my opinion as to why you should be weary of taking and paying for the usage of this app. The first and most conclusive is that listeners do not need to take their job seriously. The are no legal repercusions if you are harrased, insulted, mocked, ignored, sexually abused etc through the usage of this app. Nowadays modern citizens mistify psycologycal help (specially people who feel very lonely) and consider anything related to it as a miracle, however it is words on top of words: words can not help a human. Only emotions and physical activities coming from oneself and from others.

Seeking support for my mental health, my first two conversations with “listeners” were perverts preying on vulnerable people & asking inappropriate sexual questions; one was a man posing to have psychological expertise and subtly questioning me on my sex life/desires, the other someone posing to be a woman in order to relate to me and persistently asking questions about underwear (immediately blocked me when I asked “are you really just a man asking inappropriate questions to vulnerable people” lol). Unfortunately, there is no regulation or training, there is no support, this platform is unsafe. Deeply concerning for the kids/young people that may use this platform as it appears to be an accessible option, advertising free “support”. Really it’s just creeps using this like any other online chat room. I’m entirely grossed out

I was a listener for over 4 years, attained Exemplar level and loved every second of it. It helped me grow on so many levels and for that i am truly grateful. Helping your fellow human being in their time of need has no better feeling. However, I requested my profile to be deleted, in error due to personal circumstancs. When i realised my error, i immediately contacted them. I was informed it would resolved and my profile reinstated. This was months ago and still nothing. My review is of the customer service aspect. Not 7 cups in general who I would reccomend to anyone.

7Cups does not provide ANY help for people in need of someone to talk to. The forum system is outdated in this day and age and the listener system is extremely flawed. Even IF you manage to connect to someone to talk to, said someone just stays there and says nothing. And when you present you worries you get banned from the site. Definitely not worth the time if you need any kind of aid.

I was sexually abused on the platformand have over the course of several weeks been trying to get in touch with support to have my information removed. Despite the seriousness of the situation and their formletter claim that I should hear back in 3-5 business days, they refuse to respond to my deletion request.

Please remember the listeners are not professionals. i told one listener i feel depressed because i have no friends and he said "i can be your friend, add me on snapchat". cool. with another one i told him I'm not comfortable talking to a guy and he said something along the lines of "lmao that's weird but ok". i don't think I'll be going to this site anytime soon, especially not in "crisis" times of extreme depression.

While there are some great listeners on 7Cups, the website is very lacking in moderation and lets a lot of unprofessional accounts remain active. Use with discretion as this is not a crisis resource.
